Procedure of the Intervention
Two main techniques exist. Chin implant: an incision is made inside the mouth (or under the chin) to place a soft silicone implant onto the chin bone. Genioplasty: an osteotomy is performed to move the chin bone forward, backward, or reduce its size. The procedure lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the technique.
Post-operative monitoring and recovery
Chin swelling for 1 to 2 weeks. Soft food if administered intraorally. Temporary numbness possible. Resumption of activities after 7 to 10 days. Visible results within 3 weeks, final results in 2-3 months.
