Procedure of the Intervention
Two main methods exist.
The traditional gastric balloon is inserted endoscopically under general anesthesia. The balloon is then inflated and remains in the stomach for six months before being removed during a second endoscopy.
The Allurion balloon comes in the form of a capsule that is swallowed during a simple consultation, without anesthesia or endoscopy. It inflates automatically in the stomach, remains in place for four to six months, then deflates and is naturally eliminated through the digestive system.
Post-operative monitoring and recovery
Nausea and temporary digestive cramps are possible, and more frequent with the traditional balloon. Rest is recommended for 1 to 2 days after the traditional balloon is inserted. There is no recovery period with the Allurion balloon, and you can resume your activities immediately. Nutritional monitoring and coaching are essential in both cases to ensure lasting results.

Expected Results
The gastric balloon allows for gradual and controlled weight loss, with significant results from the first few months. The Allurion balloon stands out for its improved tolerability and increased comfort, with an intolerance rate of 1 to 3% compared to approximately 14% for the traditional balloon. Results are optimized thanks to the nutritional support and personalized follow-up offered by the Nobel Clinic Istanbul.
