Technique chosen according to the ptosis
Several techniques are available depending on the degree of ptosis.
Periareolar technique
The periareolar technique (scar only around the areola) is suitable for mild ptosis.
Vertical technique
The vertical technique (scar around the areola + vertical incision to the inframammary fold) is indicated for moderate ptosis.
Inverted-T technique
The inverted-T or anchor technique (addition of a horizontal scar in the inframammary fold) is reserved for significant ptosis with a large excess of skin.
Reshaping and repositioning the areola
The surgeon reshapes the breast tissue, repositions the areola, and removes the excess skin.
Implants in the same operation, if wished
If volume augmentation is desired, breast implants can be inserted during the same surgical procedure.
