Preoperative Preparation

How the Procedure Is Performed

Upper blepharoplasty involves removing excess skin and sometimes fat through an incision placed in the natural crease of the eyelid, which is invisible once healed. Lower blepharoplasty treats under-eye bags either through a skin incision (under the eyelashes) or a transconjunctival approach (no visible scar, incision inside the eyelid). Fat is repositioned or removed as needed.

Postoperative Follow-up and Recovery

  • Swelling and bruising for 7 to 10 days
  • Apply cold compresses for the first few days
  • Stitches removed after 5-7 days (very fine, almost invisible)
  • Resumption of activities after 7 days
  • Makeup possible after 10 days
  • Invisible scars in the eyelid crease

Expected Results

The eyes appear instantly rejuvenated, more open and rested. The scars are virtually invisible as they are placed in the natural creases. The results are long-lasting (10 to 15 years for the upper eyelids, permanent for the lower under-eye bags removed).
