Gastric Balloon / Allurion
The gastric balloon is a non-surgical medical device used for weight loss. Placed in the stomach, it occupies a significant volume, creating a feeling of fullness early on. The Allurion balloon represents a major innovation: it is the first balloon swallowed in capsule form, without endoscopy or anesthesia, and is eliminated naturally after 4 months.

Procedure of the Intervention
For the Allurion balloon: the capsule containing the deflated balloon is swallowed with a glass of water during a consultation. A thin catheter is used to fill it with 550 ml of fluid, and then it is removed. The procedure takes 15-20 minutes, without anesthesia or endoscopy. After 4 months, the balloon deflates automatically and is eliminated naturally through the body's natural processes. For conventional balloons: insertion is performed endoscopically under light sedation, and removal is performed after 6 months via the same route.
Post-operative monitoring and recovery
Nausea and stomach discomfort are common for the first 3-5 days (symptomatic treatment provided). Activities can be resumed the following day. A liquid diet is initially prescribed, then gradually reintroduced over 1-2 weeks. A nutritional coaching program with a connected app is available (for Allurion).
